Thimonia

Thimonia is a hamlet situated to the southeast part of the island. It belongs to the precinct of Theologos district. In Thimonia you can see the remains of a Byzantine temple.

Θεολόγος

Μέχρι τα μέσα του περασμένου αιώνα ο Θεολόγος ήταν το κεφαλοχώρι του νησιού, ενώ ακόμη και σήμερα, αντίθετα με τα υπόλοιπα ορεινά χωριά, είναι ζωντανό χωριό με πολλούς κατοίκους.

Astris

On the south-east rim of the island and just a few km from Potos, we can find the small rural settlement of Astris. Its name was given by the inhabitants due to its starlit sky, during their seasonal stay of olive gathering.

Potos

Potos situated in the southwest part of Thassos, is an old fishing village and also the port of Theologos which is the oldest and most historic capital of the island.

Limenaria

Driving the coastal road, leaving behind the steep and greenery cape of Kefala, someone arrives in the small picturesque bay of Tripiti, which is a beautiful beach with very clean sea and fine sand, and then finds the town of Limenaria with the settlement Kalivia which are in a high touristy development. According to the last census the residents of Limenaria are almost the same number as these of Limena, the capital of Thassos.

Maries-Skala Marion

The village of Maries is one of the oldest ones in Thassos. It is build on a gorge, on a high altitude. From early times there were iron mines operating here, abandoned today and still visible from the gorge on the right of the village.

Kalirachi-Skala Kalirachi

Kalirachi is one of the oldest villages in Thassos. The highland Kalirachi was built when the inhabitants left the old village “Kaki Rachi” during the years when the pirates’ threat was eliminated. It is situated in a beautiful site on a hills’ slope, among olive trees. The houses are built according to the traditional Thassian architecture, where most characteristic are the narrow serpentine streets of the village (in which you can hardly pass by car), ideal for walking. It is definitely one of the most picturesque villages on Thassos.

Sotiros-Skala Sotiros

In a distance of 3 klm from Skala Prinou, we find Skala Sotira, built along a beautiful and peaceful beach. An installation of bathhouse dated back to the later roman times was discovered here. Under the church courtyard remain ruins of a prehistoric settlement that date back to the early copper age.

Prinos-Skala Prinou

Financially it is one of the most important areas of Thassos, since the discovery of an oil resource and the installation of oil rigs in it’s sea area. Prinos (Kalivia), is located in the highlands of the are and is the main settlement.
